Topic: The Tabernacle of God 414

Scripture: But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say not of this building. (Heb 9:11)

Note: Matt 16:18, “And I say also to you, You are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” Judas’ lack of faith in Jesus as the Messiah explained the reasons behind his failure to address Jesus with any of His divine titles. Jesus said in Luke 6:45, “A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.”

From the above expression of Jesus, it’s obvious that Judas Iscariot was a time bomb waiting to explode. It was a matter of time, and the true state of his heart was going to be revealed. When the devil wants to humiliate someone, he capitalises on the core weakness of the person that serves as an attraction for evil and an open door to the person’s heart. In so doing, he gains full access and control of the person’s command control centre, which is the heart, and begins to use the person as a puppet to perpetuate his evil agenda on earth.

Inordinate love for money, even if it meant stealing money from no other source than the coffers of Jesus, was the stock in trade of Judas. The audacity to steal from the moneybag of Jesus alone, spoke volumes of the moral depravity of Judas, years before his infamous betrayal and tradeoff of Jesus at the retail price of a slave. That, a servant, a friend and a disciple would conceive and contrive such an atrocious idea to sell off his Master, beats the mind of any right thinking person who understands the dynamics of the forces that influence the selling and buying of slaves.

Judas Iscariot had a dead conscience. And there will always be people in the Church with dead conscience. Practising the act of sin on a daily basis and in a consistent manner, is one sure avenue to becoming a person that can be described as having a conscience seared with hot iron. It reaches a stage in your life where you are no more pricked in the conscience whenever you indulge in sin. The conscience becomes desensitised to sin and the conviction power of the Holy Spirit. You have become a servant and a slave to sin and satan. This was the state of Judas inspite of his 3 years walk with Jesus.

Food for thought: Every man’s heart is his treasure pot. This pot contains either of two things; good or evil. Is Jesus in your heart or you’ve rejected Him?

Declaration: Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron. 1Tim 4:2
