Topic: The Tabernacle of God 370

Scripture: But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say not of this building. (Heb 9:11)

Note: 2Cor 5:1, “For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.” With all the vain claims of contrary people’s claim to glory, power and fame, enjoying the world to its fullest, Paul had this response for them in the verse immediately following our topical verse: 2Cor 5:2, “For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven.”

Paul’s statement might not have inspired much hope or excitement from the class of believers who would go to any length to possess the good things of the earth, even at the expense of what’s supposed to be their most cherished faith. The greed and desperation from almost everyone, including Christian believers, who are supposed to be the salt and the light of the world, is simply amazing. Naked thievery, deceptive collusion with wicked people, in tandem with crooked manipulation of people, not excluding some pretenders, whose only claim to their calling is their position in the Church and the consecrated garments they wear, which gives them the unfettered edge to successfully hoodwink their unsuspecting victims.

The unadulterated message of the love of God, demonstrated through the sacrificial death of His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to save the world, had become a secondary priority. The efficacy of the Cross of Calvary has been relegated to occasional monumental rituals of blinded religiosity. The importance of the Cross of Christ only becomes relevant to people during heightened Christian activities such as the Easter celebration. Pretence, hypocrisy and double standard display both from preachers and the preached to, continue to add up to the burden of our High Priest, who continues to make intercessions for us, sitting at the right hand of power.

Our current definition of what we term successful and progress made among believers would be pretty much alien to our Master and Lord, who offered nothing less than His shed blood on the old rugged cross. We have no iota of compassion for lost souls. Our dry eyes are equally matched by our wet and deep pockets demonstrating power, relevance and control over others. Groaning for the lost, just as Jesus did in the garden of Gethsemane, had become the sole preserve of people who cannot easily be found in mainstream Christendom.

Food for thought: Is our desire for the Spirit of Christ to increase in us while we decrease, the main reason for our groaning today?

Declaration: He must increase, but I must decrease. John 3:30
