Prayer: Heavenly Father, may we never become liabilities to God with a mindset that’s patterned to the systems of the world.
Note: Isaiah 62:1 For Zion’s sake will I not hold my peace, and for Jerusalem’s sake I will not rest, until the righteousness thereof go forth as brightness, and the salvation thereof as a lamp that burneth. 62:2 And the Gentiles shall see thy righteousness, and all kings thy glory: and thou shalt be called by a new name, which the mouth of the LORD shall name. 62:3 Thou shalt also be a crown of glory in the hand of the LORD, and a royal diadem in the hand of thy God.
Various nations enact civil laws that are peculiar to the citizenry and their cultures. The essence of laws is to ensure compliance to order. Failure to conform to the civil laws could attract punishment. Compliance with standards, rules, or laws helps with the smooth running of society, eliminating arbitrariness. However, conformity to obnoxious regulations or laws that seeks to cause people to be at variance with the laws and standards of God, will be conforming to the standards of the world.
Water in itself has no shape or form. What water does is to take the shape of the vessel that it’s put into. As an example, water will take the shape of a glass or that of a bucket, but that doesn’t imply that water looks like a glass or a bucket. It’s simply conforming to the pattern of the vessel housing it. This is the picture of believers who find themselves in a state of compromise. When they are caught in a situation where everyone is indulging in corruption, some assume the evil pattern prevailing in the place to mischievously and conveniently misconduct themselves.
Instead of becoming agents of change by rejecting the evil overtures of peers and working colleagues in demonstrating that it’s possible to stand up as a shining light in a dark situation, many believers easily give up on pursuit, seeing themselves as alone in an impossible situation. The renewed mind knows that being on the side of God is being on the majority side. The process of getting renewed in the mind by the word of God is an act of transformation. It’s able to prove all that is good, acceptable and perfect in the will of God.
Food for thought: The renewed mind of believers is an asset to the Kingdom of God.
Declaration: And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. Romans 12:2
