Prayer: Heavenly Father, may we repent and get back on track for those of us who have lost their purpose.
Note: Isaiah 62:1 For Zion’s sake will I not hold my peace, and for Jerusalem’s sake I will not rest, until the righteousness thereof go forth as brightness, and the salvation thereof as a lamp that burneth. 62:2 And the Gentiles shall see thy righteousness, and all kings thy glory: and thou shalt be called by a new name, which the mouth of the LORD shall name. 62:3 Thou shalt also be a crown of glory in the hand of the LORD, and a royal diadem in the hand of thy God.
When believers who call upon the name of the LORD fail in any nation that is the beginning of the true fall of that nation. When believers begin to look more like unbelievers in behaviour and actions, walking in compromised and corruptible ways, it gets to the point where pretenders and unbelievers begin to look like saints, since the bar has been brought so low that one cannot differentiate between believers and unbelievers. This was the pathetic image of Jerusalem when this prophetic utterance went forth.
Anyone that’s walking truly in the faith in this world cannot help it but to stand out clearly in a dark world that’s looking for a shining light of God’s image. The slightest of lights in a dark place will instantly illuminate the place and provide visibility to anyone who is looking for directions. It’s impossible for the light to remain hidden unless there’s a deliberate ploy to put the light under a bushel, as Jesus put in (Matthew 5:15). A bushel is a calibrated metal container for capacity measurement of cereals and fluids.
Matthew 5:15 “Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.” The right place for a lighted candle isn’t to be placed under a bushel. That becomes a waste and an abuse of the candle. It might as well be useful not to have lighted the candle in the first place, as it’s not serving the purpose for which it was designed. Many believers in Christ have lost the purpose for which they were called by the Master. What we’re witnessing today is the blatant abuse of the name and image of Christ for which the LORD invested His life in us.
Food for thought: Are we serving the purpose for which we were initially identified with the name of Jesus Christ?
Declaration: Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Matthew 5:15
