Daily Manna – Perseverance 315

Daily Manna – Perseverance 315

Prayer: Heavenly Father, may we never make victims of ourselves through trampling upon the goodwill of God’s grace.

Note: Isaiah 62:1 For Zion’s sake will I not hold my peace, and for Jerusalem’s sake I will not rest, until the righteousness thereof go forth as brightness, and the salvation thereof as a lamp that burneth. 62:2 And the Gentiles shall see thy righteousness, and all kings thy glory: and thou shalt be called by a new name, which the mouth of the LORD shall name. 62:3 Thou shalt also be a crown of glory in the hand of the LORD, and a royal diadem in the hand of thy God.

Any nation that is passing through a period of extreme difficulties, faced with an economic collapse such as we have in Sri Lanka, deserves the sympathy of everyone. Going through nail-biting economic hardship however tough it may seem, tends to have its own positive side. Examples such as we had in Nineveh when Jonah cried to the nation, have been known to quickly turn away from their wickedness and hardening of their hearts to Yahweh. Even powerful kings are known to have bowed to their knees during periods of unresolved sickness.

Jerusalem failed to heed to the earlier warning that eventually threw them into exile as captured fugitives and their rights reduced to the level of slaves. Failure to heed to the warnings that God brings to our lives during periods when we get lulled into a state of deception and invincibility, have been known to have been undermined by sudden outbreak of incurable or terminal diseases, accidents or collapse of business enterprises. Trusting in the arm of the flesh will always result in failure.

Proverbs 29:1 “He, that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy.” This verse speaks of being often reproved and despising the word. It shows a deliberate and continual rejection of the redeeming overtures that God in His mercy brings our way. A gracious God doesn’t bring us evil. There’s no evil in Him. It’s man who brings evil upon himself through disobedience of God’s word and reaping the consequences of his actions. In the midst of the blatant corruption in Jerusalem, God in His mercy brought them assurance that He wouldn’t rest until Jerusalem was brought to restoration by a shining righteousness.

Food for thought: God’s grace will always be sufficient for us when we don’t deliberately trample upon the goodwill of grace.

Declaration: He, that being often reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy. Proverbs 29:1
