Daily Manna – Perseverance 311

Prayer: Heavenly Father, may we as believers stand out to the rest of the world through our actions as the redeemed of the LORD.

Note: Matthew 9:20 And, behold, a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind him, and touched the hem of his garment: 9:21 For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole. 9:22 But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour.

God’s covenant with Israel dating back to the Abrahamic relationship of promise, meant that He was jealous about guiding the progress of Israel as far as their righteous walk with Him was concerned. The desire of God was that Israel would become the representative of Him to the rest of other nations on the earth. Failure of Israel to accomplish their part of the covenant to walk in righteousness meant that there would be no shining light to the rest of the world. God would take no rest during such dark periods.

God’s people of today who have been redeemed through the shed blood of Jesus Christ, are the shining hope for the nations of the world. The only hope of redemption for the nations is when the redeemed people of God become increasingly less compromised in joining the dark race of corruption and unrighteous acts. Many people of God have grown accustomed to rationalising their unacceptable actions and behaviour with the lame reasons of having to survive through the tougher times, conducting their lives like the people of the world.

Leadership of the nations, including the clergy and God’s people in strategic positions might have been compromised through acts of unrighteousness that do not bring glory to the name of the LORD. What God does as in isaiah chapter 62, is to set uncompromising watchmen as gatekeepers of the land, who will cry ceaselessly upon the walls until righteousness is restored on the land. The fearless courage of Shiphrah and Puah in standing up to the evil manoeuvre of intimidating Pharaoh, is a shining example of what’s required of believers.

Food for thought: The exemplary life of believers through difficult times becomes the best example of a shining light towards the redemption of the world.

Declaration: And the Gentiles shall see thy righteousness, and all kings thy glory: and thou shalt be called by a new name, which the mouth of the LORD shall name. Isaiah 62:2
