Daily Manna – Perseverance 310

Prayer: Heavenly Father, may our will and desire as followers of Christ bring brightness to a nation full of darkness.

Note: Matthew 9:20 And, behold, a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind him, and touched the hem of his garment: 9:21 For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole. 9:22 But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour.

When God goes into covenant with any chosen nation as in Israel, He doesn’t give Himself rest until their righteousness is restored. This is because God desires the brightness of His people as a shining example to other nations and people. Jerusalem was particularly dear to the heart of God. At the time that Isaiah prophesied in isaiah chapter 62, Jerusalem was still a functioning city but was neck deep in spiritual corruption. What God did to bring about spiritual restoration to the nation was to raise watchmen or gatekeepers who shall give Him no rest until restoration was complete.

Any nation that finds herself neck deep in any form of corruption, whether financial or material corruption, is spiritually sick and compromised, right from the leadership of the nation through to the priesthood, down to the common man. Nations get into this type of spiritual corruption when failure from government and the priesthood to enforce order and discipline in governance gradually trickles down to the ordinary people who believe that compromising standards will not be negatively rewarded with punishment as they are simply following after their leaders.

God’s solution was to raise watchmen who will cry to Him, not resting on their oars until righteousness was established in the nation. It’s the followers of Christ on whose shoulders rests the spiritual government. The watchmen were prayer warriors who weren’t necessarily part of the known leadership of the nation. Shiphrah and Puah were ordinary midwives whose role in fiercely resisting the evil attempt by Pharaoh to cause them to compromise their stance on their fear of God, received God’s recognition. Prayer warriors set apart for the nation will face daunting temptations to compromise or take a rest on their calling.

Food for thought: Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people (Proverbs 14:34).

Declaration: For Zion’s sake will I not hold my peace, and for Jerusalem’s sake I will not rest, until the righteousness thereof go forth as brightness, and the salvation thereof as a lamp that burneth. Isaiah 62:1
