Prayer: Heavenly Father, may we never be found lacking in our commitment to God.

Note: Matthew 9:20 And, behold, a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind him, and touched the hem of his garment: 9:21 For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole. 9:22 But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour.

Not everyone is gifted in the obvious things we see and admire. Not everyone is able to sing or play any of the instruments in church. Not many people may not have the knack for preaching or speaking to a great audience. Inspite of these deficiencies such people can still be greatly used by God if they are found to be faithful and fear God. On the other hand, highly gifted people who possess all the admirable qualities desired and admired could end up being virtually useless to God if not found committed, fearing God and faithful.

Nehemiah 7:1 Now it came to pass, when the wall was built, and I had set up the doors, and the porters and the singers and the Levites were appointed, 7:2 That I gave my brother Hanani, and Hananiah the ruler of the palace, charge over Jerusalem: for he was a faithful man, and feared God above many 7:3 And I said unto them, Let not the gates of Jerusalem be opened until the sun be hot; and while they stand by, let them shut the doors, and bar them: and appoint watches of the inhabitants of Jerusalem, everyone in his watch, and everyone to be over against his house.

Shiphrah and Puah were not military Generals commanding the army of the Hebrew nation. The importance of such roles as the General commanding the army of a nation is understood by everyone as arguably the most important next to the king. Yet, the quiet, but unassuming role performed by these two midwives ended up being the most important function performed by anyone among the Hebrew people at that time of their life. They controlled the entry of new Hebrew lives, resisting the powerful Pharaoh in putting their lives possibly on the chopping block.

Food for thought: Commitment to Christ may make demand on our faithfulness and fear of God.

Declaration: And it came to pass, because the midwives feared God, that he made them houses. Exodus 1:21
