Scripture: My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge; because you have rejected knowledge, I reject you from being a priest to me. And since you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children. Hosea 4:6

Note: The failure of the people of Israel to heed to the cries, warning and clarion call of Jehovah to repentance, wasn’t peculiar to their generation. Their mockery in naming Hosea a freak and a ridiculous doomsday prophet whose words seemed like a gathering cloud that finally dispersed and failed to deliver the expected rain, is still very much an expression of the modern day attitude of people towards God. It’s God’s immense and immeasurable love for mankind that would cause Him to send a messenger in the person of a prophet to see if they would change from their wicked ways.

The world has generally lost its conscience. That we would allow a respected world body such as the UN, that seeks to unite all nations under one common charter of peace, security and human rights for all nations affiliated to it, and yet have affiliates of the world body trying to lobby and pressurise presidents of nations into swallowing obnoxious, disgusting and repugnant cultures of other nations using their monetary power and influence, is rather disappointing, to say the least.

Subtle pressure in the name of financial help in exchange for swallowing hook, line and sinker; beliefs, culture and beastly practices that are symbols of man’s disobedience and revolt against God, have become the new traps confronting the modern era. The God of heaven and the earth is defied by nations and people with impunity and indignity. The deceitful surge in prosperity and peace enjoyed in the modern world, just like the people of Israel experienced before sudden destruction and judgment, following their defeat at the hands of the Assyrians.

Prosperity and peace are two of the most desirable aspirations of any nation and people on earth. People would normally attribute such developments as due to the favour that they’re enjoying from God. Israel enjoyed the same developments as a nation during the time of Hosea. This development deceived Israel into a false belief that God was okay with them. They rejected God and the call from His messenger, Hosea. They ridiculed God as having no power and influence over their destiny, and instead advocated for respect for every man’s beliefs and human rights. Everyone became a law to themselves, which law was outside obedience to the law of God.

Food for thought: The arrogance of prosperity and peace, while deriding God, has deceived many unwitting people into the path of destruction.

Declaration: And the pride of Israel doth testify to his face: therefore shall Israel and Ephraim fall in their iniquity; Judah also shall fall with them. Hosea 5:5
