Scripture: And when they saw Joseph afar off, even before he came near to them, they conspired against him to slay him. Genesis 37:18

Note: A well executed plan, intricately worked out in details over a long period of time, to allay Joseph’s fears on the ramifications of getting caught and reported to Potiphar had been put in place. The perfect scenario had been created by Potiphar’s wife, the sole owner and sponsor of this disingenuous project that was to see her getting laid without getting caught. This story on how to commit a perfect evil is an excellent example of the creative industry, power, ingenuity, energy and elaborate attention to details, that are delicately employed and deployed in the lust enterprise to commit evil.

Lust is unrelenting and doesn’t easily give up without a fight until a man or a woman had been shamefully brought to their knees in humiliation. The adrenaline rush, the excitement and anticipation of a great party time, powered by unbelievable and seemingly endless amount of resources, never ceases to amaze. The lust industry has never lacked resources in the amount of time, money and energy dedicated to its success. It has surprisingly always taken its place among the top priorities of human endeavour, although that isn’t the obvious picture portrayed in officialdom by people who are not expected by society to have succumbed to the creeping, inglorious power coming from the powerful tentacles of sexual pleasures sponsored by lust.

Joseph’s rejection of all the sexual overtures that were premised on the false assumptions of Potiphar’s wife that every young man of his age, unfortunately denied his right to natural liberty through forced slavery, which is the inalienable right of every human, would have naturally seen the sexual freebies being offered by a woman in the class of the elite in society as a rare privilege. These false assumptions that had been made to look more of the order of the day, becoming a prototype of a subculture foisted on our generation by evil and cunning people, hiding behind the curtains of greed, wickedness and immorality to perpetuate an inglorious industry that has found the majority of the youth in sexual imprisonment.

Joseph’s rejection of the mistress of the house; a woman of enormous power and influence, unsurprisingly resulted in the loss of his freedom for many years. That, he didn’t lose his life was a miracle. To slight a woman of such power in society so shamefully, leaving behind a cogent evidence of his garment that was used against him as testimony of a framed up rape attempt, left Joseph with no believable defence in what could be termed a very bad case for him. To slight an ordinary, powerless woman in society is deemed risky enough. But to slight a woman like Potiphar’s wife, leaves you with no chance except God. Fortunately for Joseph, God was on his side because he chose to honour God to the detriment of his life.

Food for thought: When God is on your side, who can be against you? When God decides to speak for you, who can stand up against Him?

Declaration: Surely, He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler, and from the deadly pestilence. Psalm 91:3
