Topic: The Tabernacle of God 353
Scripture: But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say not of this building. (Heb 9:11)
Note: 2Cor 5:1, “For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.” Talking of the dissolution of the house of this tabernacle was not an admission of failure by the apostle Paul. It was an emphatic statement of the robust and rugged nature of his faith and firm assurance in the word of God and in the ability of Yahweh to superimpose a superior housing made without human hands and fit for eternal glory.
Comparing the short time of our sojourn on earth to that of eternity is outrageously ridiculous, shortsighted and not worth comparing. Thus the persecutions, afflictions and suffering in our lives and ministry for the sake of Christ are insignificant relative to the joy and glory that awaits us. Any comparison worth its salt will only succeed in reviving any sagging spirit, giving much hope, delight and even pleasure to the soul.
Affliction metaphorically represents oppression, tribulation, distress or finding yourself in a dire strait. In all situations, affliction is an undesirable phenomenon for any normal human being. It’s something that puts enormous pressure on the mind, pressing the mind into a point of capitulation or surrender. It’s not healthy for the human mind and much more the soul. It’s a tool of oppression designed by the enemy to bring believers to their knees, leaving them with the false impression that giving up is the only option.
Psalm 34:19, “Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivers him out of them all.” Believers were never promised a rosy walk in the park concerning their relationship with Christ. Everyone will face afflictions and the unpalatable truth is that the afflictions will be many. But the glorious truth is that God will deliver us from them all. Every step of deliverance from an affliction, becomes a building block for our next assignment. We are strengthened from faith to faith.
Food for thought: We were not promised a trouble-free life, but Yahweh says He will never leave us nor forsake us.
Declaration: Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as you have: for He had said, I will never leave you, nor forsake you. Heb 13:5
