Topic: The Tabernacle of God 164

Scripture: But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say not of this building. (Heb 9:11)

Note: 1John 1:7, “But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.” Walking in the light is the mark of true fellowship with God. Transparency demands that as we walk together with the brethren in fellowship, we must be open to whatever may come our way by means of feedback from the brethren. Feedback is not always expected to be pleasant. Sometimes it’s both uncomfortable and unpleasant.

Yet, feedback must be taken in good faith if we’re to grow in maturity, build trust and be able to win the confidence of the brethren that we closely relate to. It’s not easy giving an unpleasant feedback to someone who isn’t your very good buddy, or within your circle of friends or within your age group. It needs a lot of humility, prayerful consideration, skill in communication, wisdom and the right timing.

After King David had instigated the murder of Bathsheba’s husband, Uriah, when he impregnated the wife of the latter at a time Bathsheba was still married, David knew that the coast was now clear for him to marry Bathsheba without any hint of suspicion. The plot was a tightly concealed one between the king and Joab, commander of the armed forces. Joab was too experienced and matured to meddle in the domestic affairs of the king, if he is to keep his job.

Yet, unknown to David, the wicked things that he hatched, leading to the twin sins of adultery and murder, had been revealed by God in secret to the prophet Nathan (2Sam 12:1). Nathan was sent by God to David, and in his masterful delivery to the monarch, the prophet acted in wisdom and humility, mindful of the safety of his own life. One missed step on the part of the prophet could possibly have been history for him. Nathan knew too much for his own comfort. Yet, he managed to deliver this most sensitive message without any hitch, leading to admission of guilt and repentance on the part of the king.

Food for thought: Godly wisdom in the use of the tongue can prove the essential difference between life and death.

Declaration: Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding. Proverbs 4:7
