Topic: The Tabernacle of God 347

Scripture: But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say not of this building. (Heb 9:11)

Note: 2Cor 5:1, “For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.” The dissolution of the old tabernacle marks a new dispensation in man. The old Adamic nature gives way to a new nature which in Christ Jesus is a new creation that is reborn and regenerated by virtue of his faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross of Calvary. This new creation walks by the faith of the Son of God, who loved him and gave Himself to him (Gal 2:20).

Gal 4:4, “But when the fullness of time was come, God sent forth His Son, made of a woman, made under the law.” When the time appointed of the Father was up, the promise made by the Father to bring about the redemption and reconciliation of man through the seed of the woman was invoked into manifestation. God sent His Son, Jesus, (John 1:14) who was born of the virgin Mary, and grew up under the law, with all the limitations of the Son of God having to operate within an ambience under the control of the schoolmaster, which is the law. Yet, Christ needed to subject Himself to the tutorship of the schoolmaster, so that He might redeem them that were under the law (Gal 4:5).

Eph 1:10, “That in the dispensation of the fullness of times, He might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in Him.” Having lived in obedience to the will of the Father for the redemption of man, Jesus submitted Himself to torture on the cross where He died and was buried for three days in the grave. As Jesus hanged excruciatingly on the cross in pain, He cried out with a loud voice and yielded up His spirit (Matt 27:50).

Death and the grave had held man bound, helpless and intact since the time of Adam. Yet, for the first time in the history of man, the grave could no longer hold its dead at the sight of Jesus. The veil in the temple that stood as the symbol of separation between God and man in the law, was torn into two to signify a new era of protocol. Matt 27:51-53, “And behold, the curtain of the temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. And the earth shook, and the rocks were split. The tombs also were opened. And many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised, and coming out of the tombs after His resurrection they went into the holy city and appeared to many.”

Food for thought: The lordship of Christ Jesus goes beyond His life on earth. Even in the grave, He remained Lord.

Declaration: When the centurion and those who were with him, keeping watch over Jesus, saw the earthquake and what took place, they were filled with awe and said, “Truly this was the Son of God.” Matt 27:54
