Topic: The empty tomb 80

Reading: Matthew 27:57-66, 28:1-15

Scripture: He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee. (Luke 24:6)

Note: The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob: That’s the name of the only true God. Jehovah is His name. There’s no other god besides Him. He is the I AM THAT I AM. The Everlasting God, the Self-Existing One. Out of His own volition and Eternal Wisdom, He called one man out of a nation of idolatrous worship and witchcraft, and turned him into a believer and worshipper of the only true God.

Out of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, He formed the nation of Israel, that He may use them to demonstrate to the rest of the world His true Person, Nature, Identity, Power and His Kingdom. That through Israel, the rest of the world may know the Living God, by whom everything exists and came into being. That the rest of the world may know that all other gods are false, powerless and nothing before the Only Wise God. Holy and Just in His ways, most wonderful in all His works.

Israel, the called out nation was a prototype of the Church, demonstrating its nature and essence as the Ecclesia. The birth of Israel and its survival as a nation, witnessed a tortuous and convoluted journey into exile and slavery in Egypt. The sojourn into Egypt, typical of the presence of the Church in the world, was a life of persecution, hatred, injustice, subservience and death.

It was only after Israel had cried unto God for deliverance that God sent them a deliverer in the person of Moses. As a deliverer, Moses led Israel by the strong hand of God out of Egypt, demonstrating His infallible and incomparable power to bring redemption to the people of Israel. Moses as redeemer, was a type of Christ, the true Redeemer of the Church, his body.

Food for thought: Redemption is by power and blood.

Declaration: Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus. (Rom.3:24)
