Topic: The empty tomb 79
Reading: Matthew 27:57-66, 28:1-15
Scripture: He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee. (Luke 24:6)
Note: The Church is considered as a complex body that was in a state of pupillage and minority under the old dispensation of the law. Two words are used in the Greek context to describe the Church: namely Ecclesia and Koinonia.
Ecclesia means called out, while Koinonia means fellowship or communication. When God called out Abram from the Chaldeans, from his father’s house, from his kindred and from his country into a land that He would show him, that was the beginning of the birthing out of a nation of people who shall worship the only true God, Jehovah. It was the Ecclesia that was in force. Abram’s name was later changed to Abraham, father of many nations, to correspond with his new status of blessing as a called out person, even though he had no biological offspring at that time.
Out of the loins of Abraham came out Ishmael and Isaac. Out of these two sons, Isaac was chosen as a son of the promise, that could only have materialised through faith. But Ishmael was rejected as a son of the flesh, coming through man-crafted effort and self-will. The call-out of Isaac in preference to Ishmael is typically characteristic of the nature of the Ecclesia. You could only be part of the Church unless you have been called out by faith through the action of the Spirit of God.
Out of Isaac came Esau and Jacob. Esau was rejected right from the womb because through His Eternal Wisdom, God saw in Esau, a fornicator and a profane person, Heb.12:16. God loved Jacob, Rom.9:13, who through faith received the blessing of the birthright from Isaac, Heb.11:20.
Food for thought: By faith, Jehovah became the God of the called-out nation of Israel: The God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.
Declaration: But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. (Heb.11:6)
