Topic: The Tabernacle of God 157

Scripture: But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say not of this building. (Heb 9:11)

Note: 1John 1:7, “But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.” Adam and Eve’s failure to obey God’s word, brought with it a hefty price of a disconnect from God. They could no longer feel comfortable being in fellowship with God as before. The disobedience of God meant that they had rejected the light of God’s presence in preference to darkness.

Walking in the light of God’s presence and in His word, causes us to have fellowship with one another. Whenever fellowship with the brethren becomes questionable for any believer, the indications are that there could be outstanding issues that are yet to be resolved between that believer and someone else in the body, most likely someone in authority. Other reasons could simply be that the troubled believer may be having challenges with his personal walk with God.

In both instances cited above, it’s important that the sooner issues are resolved, the better it’s for the fellowship of believers. Unresolved issues hinder the move of God, block access channels for the flow of God’s blessings, retards progress in a team, and becomes an avoidable barrier to answered prayer. Nobody wins in particular, when we are all holding grudges against one another.

Strained relationship breeds negativity and gives cause to unsubstantiated, wild imaginations, divisive suspicions and unwarranted criticisms. Damaged relationship within a fellowship leads to personal hurts and isolation. People withdraw and keep to themselves. That way, the enemy succeeds in making everyone believe that they are right in their own way. Isolation leads to weakening of the social and spiritual support systems for the believer. It will not be long before the isolated individual becomes an easy target for the enemy, who will waste no time in making mince meat of his victims with ruthless abandon.

Food for thought: Fellowship with one another is to be savoured and looked forward to, with anticipation, excitement and great expectation from God.

Declaration: And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers. Acts 2:42
