Topic: Eternity

Scripture: And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself: that where I am, there you may be also. (John 14:3)

Note: The brazen effrontery demonstrated by the hoodlums who had forcibly invaded my home uninvited, having breached the razor fence wire with impunity by cutting them in two separate areas, apparently to facilitate their easy access and provide them with options for escape in case the police should chance on them suddenly during their diabolical operation, really got into me when they “ordered me” to open my door to my own house for them to come in and do whatever they like.

These kinds of scenario present the few moments in a man’s life when his ego will be called to duty. I had options to have called his insolent bluff off or to move away quietly without confrontation. I’m a man and know the extent to which I could prove stubborn when called to duty at the right time given the right ambience. I chose the latter option, having taken note of the fact that he was wielding a pump action gun. I made an informed decision based on the knowledge that I have about the power of that gun when discharged on me.

Many people are confronted with challenges, obstacles, opportunities or risks in life that demands a timely decision to be made based on informed knowledge or information to avert a disaster or to prevent lost opportunity. Yet, there is no decision in a lifetime that outweighs the benefits of knowing where to spend eternity. The average age of seventy years spent on this earth is considered a blessing from God when it is attained, and after death comes judgment (Heb 9:27). The question is, “Have I made the right decision on where I’m spending eternity?” Jesus declared unequivocally and unapologetically, “I am the way, the truth and the life, no one comes to the Father but by me.” (John 14:6)

Food for thought: Life without the hope of eternity is not worth living.

Declaration: And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment. (Heb 9:27)
