Daily Manna | Wednesday, January 24, 2018 | Reading: Exodus 33:1-11, Exodus 4, Gen 3:1-21

Topic: The Tabernacle of God 339

Scripture: But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say not of this building. (Heb 9:11)

Note: 2Cor 5:1, “For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.” Death is no respecter of persons. Lazarus, who was a close friend of Jesus was attacked by death at a time that Jesus was far away from the family. Unfortunately, Lazarus succumbed to the cold and ruthless power of death, requiring the later personal intervention of Jesus. The raising of Lazarus from the dead, defying the icy hands of death, was a spectacular miracle that defined and demonstrated Jesus Christ as the resurrection and the life, with the ability to defy and destroy the stranglehold of death over man.

All of humanity died in Adam. The entry of sin brought with it death. Sin gave death permission and power, with the legal right to operate and exercise dominion over man. The title deeds authorizing man’s dominion and rule over the earth and all of creation, was wilfully and recklessly handed over to satan through a wilful disobedience of God’s instructions to man. Disobedience of God’s word by man is too costly for man to ever contemplate going against God’s word.

Yet, inspite of the miseries that man had endured since Adam, man has continued to defy God. Man’s Adamic nature makes him powerless before the overbearing influence of satanic rule, perpetuated through evil and rebellion against the order of God. Satan’s first taste of the resurrection power of Jesus when he wickedly caused death to mess with the young life of Lazarus, was to have served as a wrong move on the part of the enemy and a warning to him of what could be awaiting him when he actively masterminded the execution of Jesus Christ the Messiah, together with his cohorts, the evil religious establishment of the day.

The enemy hasn’t contemplated retirement yet. Though defeated and publicly humiliated in the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, when Christ triumphed over him (Col 2:15), he has continued to try messing with the wrong folks, the children of God. The Scriptures declare that believers are complete in Christ, who is the head of all principality and power. For in Christ dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily (Col 2:8-10).

Food for thought: A living relationship with Jesus Christ makes us complete in Him.

Declaration: And you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power. Col 2:10
