Note: The operating system (OS) is the most important program that runs on a computer. As the system software, it is the master brain that manages all the other programs in the computer, commonly referred to as applications. The OS has the capability to perform basic tasks, recognising basic inputs from the keyboard, sending output to the display screen, keeping track of files and directories on the disk, and controlling peripheral devices such as disks drives and printers.
There are different types of computer operating systems such as the Microsoft Windows, Mac OS, Linux and the Unix, which is a multi-user operating system. Network systems use all the above OS and even more, such as the Novell NetWare and BSD. Operating systems run independently of each other though two different operating systems could be installed on the same computer but with different selectable boot launches.
The law as in the old dispensation, viewed against the dispensation of Christ, being the Messiah, had their own operating systems that were different and independent of each other. The law in the old dispensation was based on works while the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus is based on faith. The old law ministered sin consciousness, helplessness and death, while the new law ministered life, saving knowledge, grace and faith in Christ.
The trajectory of the law tended to the path of condemnation, producing a sense of guilt, misery, burdensome restraints and a longing for redemption which was obviously outside the scope of the law. For by the works of the flesh shall no flesh be justified. It takes only the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus to set us free from the law of sin and death.
Food for thought: The Gospel is unashamedly declared as God’s power for salvation from condemnation, sin and death.
Declaration: For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh. (Rom 8:3)
