Topic: The Tabernacle of God 365
Scripture: But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say not of this building. (Heb 9:11)
Note: 2Cor 5:1, “For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.” Death is a most unpleasant word or topic for most people on any given day. The mere mention of this enemy of man evokes sad memories of loss of loved ones. Some even consider the mere mention of it as a taboo, directly linked a superstitious belief to an invitation of what’s considered man’s greatest enemy. The Bible calls death the last enemy of man that shall be destroyed (1Cor 15:26).
The dissolution of the earthly housing of this tabernacle is caused by death. In the exercise of the disassembly of a tent, everything points to destruction of a housing for people that previously brought them comfort, relaxation and protection from the elements and wild beasts. The seeming destruction of something that’s providing shelter in the sustenance of human life is considered unacceptable. Yet, dissolution becomes necessary when the need to move on to the next stage, the next phase or the next level in your life becomes inevitable.
Dissolution is all about separation. Whenever separation takes place even for people who aren’t dead but may be travelling for unavoidable reasons, there’s palpable feeling of pain that’s often accompanied with grief, sobbing, depression and loneliness. Separation of any kind is difficult, manifesting copious tears in the eyes of the affected. Sights of a well up of tears in people aren’t signs of weakness. They’re deep emotional expressions of love often characterized by remembrance of special moments of demonstration of love between two or more people.
Separation is real and ruthless. When the human body enters into a phase of dissolution, blood ceases to flow through the veins as the heart stops operation. No organ or body part is able to function any longer. The joints and the sinews that hold the body together in unity give way. The arms and the shoulders that are very strong when alive, begin to give way from the shoulder blade and every bone lies by itself. Separation is mean, yet without the inglorious pain of disintegration between the body and the soul, the soul could never experience the glory of the new housing which shall be like that of the body of Jesus.
Food for thought: Death does not intimidate Christian believers because we know with certainty where we are going.
Declaration: Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it does not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when He shall appear, we shall be like Him; for we shall see Him as He is. 1John 3:2
