Topic: Timing in sync with God

Reading: Luke 19:28-40

Scripture: And when he was come nigh, even now at the descent of the mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen. (Luke 19:37)

Note: A triumphal entry into Jerusalem by Jesus and his disciples, accompanied by unanimous, loud shouts of reverberating hosanna praise from the people, resonated throughout the holy city; the pitiful looking faces of the Pharisees epitomised a discord from a group of people who had just missed the greatest moment of the descent of God’s glory in their land. They dreadfully missed the timing of God in their lives.

It’s amazing how in several ways, we ingloriously and dreadfully miss such glorious moments and visitations from God when we get distracted by the mundane and the legalistic aspects of our service and our worship to God, much to the detriment of the things that pertain to life and godliness. Self-serving arguments, self-righteousness, personal satisfaction and pride in religious rites, personal achievements and self-glory, have all sadly conspired to blind the Pharisees to the greater truth of the predicted Messiah and King entering into Jerusalem, riding on a donkey.

The prophet Zechariah said, “Rejoice greatly, O daughters of Zion; shout, O daughter of Jerusalem, behold thy King cometh unto thee, he is just, and having salvation; lowly and riding upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of an ass.” (Zech 9:9). May we never be blinded to the move and timing of God in our generation. May we never miss or be bypassed in the move of the train of His glory.

Food for thought: May our timing, our purpose, our passion and our pursuits always be in sync with the move of God in our generation.

Declaration: And he answered and said unto them, “I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out.” (Luke 19:40)
