Topic: The Tabernacle of God 150
Scripture: But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say not of this building. (Heb 9:11)
Note: Gen 3:5, “And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.” Eve had done the one thing God asked them not to do, for which if disobeyed, would carry grave consequence of death. She did this despicable act in the absence of Adam, her husband.
Eve didn’t end there, but went a step further to coerce her husband into the same compromise and corruption that she found herself. By listening to the voice of the enemy in acquiescing to the plot of Satan, Eve became a servant of corruption and sin that leads to death. Rom 6:16, “Know ye not that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey, whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness.”
Corruption is the process by which a person or material or word or expression is changed from its original state to one regarded as erroneous or debased. By ceding her will and authority to the devil, who is the father of all sins, corruption and lies, Eve, now compromised and corrupted, began to operate under the guile and authority of the devil. By disobeying God’s word, took herself out of the control and provision of God.
The natural tendency of a corrupt person or material, given the same environment, conditions and systems for which the person or material became corrupt, is to retrogress from the current state into a worse, grossly debased state, negatively affecting close persons or materials around. It was therefore not surprising that Eve was bent on making sure that her husband also becomes a victim of her corruption. The cumulative consequence of their act was that Adam and Eve became slaves to sin, the devil and corruption.
Food for thought: The fruit of corruption is sin that leads to death.
Declaration: Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness. Rom 6:18
