Topic: The empty tomb 69

Reading: Matthew 27:57-66, 28:1-15

Scripture: He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee. (Luke 24:6)

Note: The infinite suffering, sorrow and shame suffered by Christ on the cross could only be fully known and understood by God who accepted that singular sacrifice with the shedding of blood as the only acceptable sacrifice for all eternity in the redemption, regeneration and restoration of man in the sight of God.

This singular sacrifice of Christ was the ultimate sacrifice that satisfied the requirement of God for all blood sacrifices; past, present and the future for man’s redemption agenda. The law of Moses with its ceremonial and ritualistic blood sacrifices failed to provide justification to any man in the presence of God as everyone failed, including Moses who received the law written by fire with the finger of God.

The pathetic failure of man to attain the righteous standards of God by obedience to the law as the school master, necessitated the intervention of God, if man is to have any hope of redemption. The law only helped in making glaring, man’s weaknesses and failures before God, teaching him the essential lessons that he could never prevail by his own works, strength, efforts, wisdom, knowledge or intelligence.

Thus, in a positive sense, the law helped to bring us into Christ that we may be justified by faith. Hence, after faith had taken over, we are no more under the law as our school master, as it has no power or binding effect over us again.

Food for thought: For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has made me free from the law of sin and death.

Declaration: Wherefore the law was our school master to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a school master. (Gal.3:24-25)
