Topic: The Tabernacle of God 359

Scripture: But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say not of this building. (Heb 9:11)

Note: 2Cor 5:1, “For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.” It’s worth noting and appreciating others who go to great extents to demonstrate exceptional love or affection through a spectacular act of sacrifice. Valentine was one exceptional person who demonstrated such love which mirrors the very nature of God. Unfortunately, the man Valentine as we have read of him and knowingly or unknowingly misrepresented his demonstration of love, will weep, mourn and put on sackcloth at the sad spectacle of what he will be seeing today in memory of him.

His life as captured in historical records was exemplary. However, his life as remembered and displayed in recent memory is a caricature of what his good and well intended sacrificial love was. Greed and corruption in our society have effectively replaced sacrifice and love. Selflessness is only expected to be preached, practised and exhibited in monasteries. Selfishness replaced the monastic word, selflessness, many years ago. Pretence, debased showmanship, man centered organized stagecraft and well choreographed actions and display of fictional ideals, are the make believe things on display to the public for their consumption.

The cancer that has eaten deep into the masqueraded lives on display can only be cured by the supernatural hand of God. Everyone is suffering. Everything is suffering. At the root of the problem is a heart that has turned away from the love of God. The simplicity of God’s love is so free and overwhelming that we find it difficult to accept God’s love as believable and true. The cancerous damage in our hearts is so deep that it has only succeeded in further distancing us away from the ambience of God’s love.

God’s love is so wonderful and kind. The visible and tangible manifestation of God’s love to mankind found expression in the matchless sacrifice of His Son, when He freely offered Him to come and die in man’s stead. This matchless sacrifice of Jesus Christ in the shedding of His sinless blood through His death on the cross, served as the greatest window of opportunity for man’s repentance and reconciliation with God. This is the love that’s worth celebrating everyday, in that while we were still sinners and objects of God’s wrath, He sent His Son to come and die for us.

Food for thought: Pure and unadulterated love is what God offers to man through the sacrificial death of His Son, Jesus Christ.

Declaration: But God shows His love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Rom 5:8
