Topic: The empty tomb 94

Reading: Matthew 27:57-66, 28:1-15

Scripture: He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee. (Luke 24:6)

Note: Isaiah 40v22, “It is He that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are like grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in:”

It took the world thousands of years to accept the inerrant truth of God’s word that the earth was after all not flat as scientists, philosophers and supposedly great men of wisdom and learning had thought, after the Prophet Isaiah had spoken God’s word under the inspiration of the Spirit of God at a time that Israel was in captivity, with the prophet looking beyond the captivity to redemption.

The reality and truth of Isaiah’s wisdom under the inspiration of the Spirit of God is simply matchless compared with the wisdom and learning of the world at that time. False assumption of the fact that the earth was flat, fearing that were it to be round, then the understanding and fear was that people could possibly be falling off at certain portions of the earth. This false postulate prevailed in the then world of academia, largely as a result of fear even as far as the modern world, as some people were prosecuted and sentenced to death for daring contrary view that the earth was round.

Speaking the truth of the roundness of the earth caused widespread public alarm, fear, panic and unrest. Threat of the Death Sentence, served as a faithful servant in helping to perpetuate this lie. Isaiah was a learned man in his time. Yet the foundation of his much learning was from the school of the Spirit. You could never go wrong with God. The wisdom of God’s word puts believers years ahead of their time.

People lost their lives for preaching the truth of the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. But the threat of death has failed to obliterate the inerrancy and power of God’s word. The satanic weapon of fear failed to stop Jesus Christ from going to Calvary to bring redemption to mankind. Fear of death by execution from satanic agents, hiding under the cover of so-called religion, has failed to cause Christian believers to renounce their faith in Christ.

Food for thought: If death could not hold Jesus captive in the grave for just three days, then death itself deserves the death sentence for failure to do its job.

Declaration: For God has not given us the spirit of fear, but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. (2Tim 1:7)
