Tehillah Generation Chapel

Daily Manna | Thursday, February 15, 2018 | Reading: Exodus 33:1-11, Exodus 4, Gen 3:1-21

Topic: The Tabernacle of God 358

Scripture: But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say not of this building. (Heb 9:11)

Note: 2Cor 5:1, “For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.” A lot of Churchgoers and borderline believers are likely to wake up this morning, suffering from the hangover of their shameful exploits and what happened to them in the much trumpeted Valentine day bash the previous day. Instead of a refreshing sense of conquest as normally happens in battles, the Valentine day conquest brings a depressing sense of shame, a feeling of having failed God badly when you were expected to have stood gallantly and valiantly as a true soldier of the cross.

The consistent debasing of love which is the nature of God, all in the name of Valentine celebration of love, in what is widely anticipated to be exciting, and fulfilling, has turned into a yearly opportunity for warped minds to explore new ways of expressing their lecherous taste for the opposite sex in a world that’s predominantly more about one’s selfish interests and what one can possibly get out of any relationship, without a second thought as to the lasting damage one could be causing to their partner, than anything else. Nobody is left in doubt about their unspoken maxim: “Each one for himself, God for us all.”

It’s amazing how we manage to exercise the brazen effrontery in our mindless language to bring God into an exercise of debauchery that He clearly disapproves of in the written word. The often mentioned God that’s expressed on our lips is very far away from our hearts where it matters most. God has been reduced to a casual escort who is only called upon during emergency situations to salvage an already bad situation that wouldn’t have arisen in the first place if He had been acknowledged as the Lord, the Master and the Captain of our Salvation.

God has been relegated to the background, and strategically minimised in all our plans, decisions and actions. Yet, we have the moral courage to call upon His intervention when everything points to all intents and purposes that we masterminded our own downfall. Thankfully, we have a great High Priest that’s passed into the heavens, Jesus Christ, who is willing to make intercessions for us. He is able to understand how we feel, our infirmities and the temptations that confront us in our daily walk with Him (Heb 4:14-15).

Food for thought: God will never reject us when we call upon Him. However, it’s our faithful walk with Jesus that gives us the boldness to come before the throne of grace.

Declaration: Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. Heb 4:16
