Topic: The empty tomb 41

Reading: Matthew 27:57-66, 28:1-15

Scripture: He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee. (Luke 24:6)

Note: Spanning the past two decades, the most ferocious among the swoon hypothesis proponents had been the Muslim preacher, Ahmed Deedat of South Africa, whose book _Crucifixion or Cruci-fiction_ has been widely printed, circulated and distributed all over the Muslim world.

Deedat takes a critical look at the events in the four Gospels and theorizes a scenario of events similar to the swoon hypothesis. The Islamic position on the subject of Christ’s crucifixion is a form of _Docetism_ which is a doctrine in Christian terminology referring to the phenomenon of Christ, his historical and bodily existence, and thus above all the human form of Jesus, was altogether mere semblance without any true reality. Broadly, it’s taken as the belief that Jesus’ humanity was a form of illusion.

This is what the Qur’an had to say on a denial of the crucifixion of Jesus in Sura 4:157-158, “And because of their saying: We slew the Messiah, Jesus son of Mary, Allah’s messenger – they slew him not nor crucified him, but it appeared so unto them; and lo! those who disagree concerning it are in doubt thereof; they have no knowledge thereof save pursuit of a conjecture; they slew him not for certain. But Allah took him up unto Himself. Allah was ever Mighty, Wise.”

The refusal to admit the fact that Jesus Christ came in the flesh is a critical point of divergence between the Christian faith and the spirit of Antichrist.

Food for thought: Unfortunately for all the dissenting voices and opinions on the humanity of Christ, his crucifixion and bodily resurrection, the Bible is unequivocal and unapologetic in its declaration that such dissents aren’t merely academic but a manifestation of the spirit of antichrist.

Declaration: And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world. (1John 4:3)
