Topic: Godly power triangle
Reading: 1Chronicles 22 & 23
Scripture: And he gathered together all the princes of Israel, with the priests and the Levites. (1Chron 23:2)
Note: Several years of very hard battles in war through a period of 40 years of his reign, had rendered David prematurely old and weak at the age of 70 years, unlike the patriarchs Abraham, Isaac and Jacob who passed on at 175, 180 and 147 years respectively. Even Moses who similarly went through a very stressful time of leading Israel through emancipation from slavery in Egypt through the transition in the wilderness, eventually passed on at age 120 years.
David eventually passed on at age 75 years. Five years before his death, he made Solomon king of Israel. Having already summoned the support of the princes of Israel for the building of the temple and the need for them to align with God by seeking Him with all their hearts and souls, David completed the critical power triangle required to govern a nation in a divine manner, by joining the priests and the Levites to the unity triangle.
The princes, who were the elders of the twelve tribes of Israel, were representative of the people and they represented the political axes. The priests were the intercessors between the people and God. They were the connecting bridge providing spiritual direction, light and hope to the people in sanctifying the holy things eternally. They represented the spiritual axes. The Levites led worship in the temple. They were singers and men who played instruments. They were the judges of the people. They represented the judiciary.
With all the activities of these three groups comprising the political, spiritual and judiciary put together, an orderly arrangement of divine worship and a healthy nation was to be guaranteed.
Food for thought: Harmonious functioning of the political, spiritual and the judiciary, is necessary to the healthy growth and development of a nation.
Declaration: Now set your heart and your soul to seek the Lord your God; arise therefore, and build ye the sanctuary of the Lord God, to bring the ark of the covenant of the Lord, and the holy vessels of God, into the house that is to be built to the name of the Lord. (1Chron 22:19)
