Topic: The Tabernacle of God 355

Scripture: But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say not of this building. (Heb 9:11)

Note: 2Cor 5:1, “For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.” Paul said, for we know that if our “earthly house” which understandably refers to the body, is dissolved, we have a building of God, which is a building not made with human hands, superior housing both in nature and architecture, specially designed for eternity. This new building is not susceptible to destruction, corruption or dissolution.

The body of man is like a well built house, a curious but well-crafted masterpiece piece of architecture. A house consists of a variety of parts fitly framed and put together in just symmetry and proportion, but with functionality that should be the envy of any Architect. Biological scientists have proven the entire usefulness of virtually every part of the human body. This shows the power and wisdom of God the Chief Architect. God didn’t just create the human body solely for its beauty, but used the functionality of the various parts to bring out the beauty of His masterful creation.

A careful study and observation of the human body and even nature, have a lot to teach not only to architects, but engineers and scientists as well. The organisational structure of the body, the internal and external coordinating systems, the communication systems, the exceptional unity demands on all the parts, combine to demonstrate one thing; that they are all working basically for one main purpose, the health, survival and abiding interest of the body.

The Church, which is the body of Christ, is premised on the same concept as the human body. We work and function for the interest of the Head, who is Christ Jesus, whose body spiritually we are. We don’t function for our parochial interests but for Jesus Christ, who is Head of all; for whom, through whom and by whom we were all created. Our lack of understanding and unity within the body of Christ, demonstrate palpable ignorance, parochial interests, personal glory and even shortsightedness on our part of the common enemy that wars against us, who is satan. This pathetic lack of appreciation of the working of God’s Kingdom business on earth, has only succeeded in weakening our front and whittling down our relevance, power and presence in a dying world.

Food for thought: We cannot succeed working against God but for Him.

Declaration: Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation. 1Pet 2:12
