Topic: The empty tomb 13

Reading: Matthew 27:57-66, 28:1-15

Scripture: He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee. (Luke 24:6)

Note: When the chief priests, captains of the temple and the Sadducees felt threatened and aggrieved from the preaching of the apostles in the name of Jesus, emphasising on his triumph over death and his resurrection, the most sane approach on their part that would have instantly quenched this fire would have been to simply produce the stolen body of Jesus as hard evidence, as they had initially trumpeted through their grand propaganda.

Unfortunately, there was no body to produce as evidence. Their supplanted lie was now gasping for oxygen on its deathbed of ignominy. They had exposed themselves to ridicule and irrelevance through the concocted lie. The many infallible proofs of Jesus’ resurrection to several people, numbering about 500 in all and of diverse background, spanning over 40 days, were simply too much for a palpable lie bought under the table.

People had grown wiser. They heard the wonderful works of God spoken miraculously through the mouths of people who were not familiar with the language they were speaking. Yet, the messages didn’t contradict God and the works of His hand. The messages confirmed from the manifestation of the Spirit that Jesus indeed resurrected from the dead.

This couldn’t have been the handiwork of man. It wasn’t stage managed. This was not the work of art; acting out a carefully written script. This was a spontaneous response from the Spirit in answer to man’s desperation in search for the truth. Jesus Christ is the Truth.

Food for thought: The devil may imagine. Man may act, but God has the final say.

Declaration: Who is he that saith, and it cometh to pass, when the Lord commandeth it not? (Lam. 3:37)
