Topic: The Tabernacle of God 170
Scripture: But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say not of this building. (Heb 9:11)
Note: 1John 1:7, “But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.” Adjusting to change when there’s a negative feedback from another person can prove to be quite a daunting task for some people. Human resistance to change is a proven natural phenomenon. Sometimes it takes exceptional courage to be able to react positively to the need for change.
When unacceptable behaviour or attitude is tolerated by brethren for a long time, expecting the persons to change on their own without being prompted, what eventually becomes of the wayward person is a monster, whose waywardness has grown beyond what the fellowship can no more tolerate without seriously comprising on their time honoured standards of obedience to God’s word.
The non compromising expectation of living up to the standards of God’s word becomes a disincentive for such erring people, who begin to feel uncomfortable among the brethren, become extra sensitive to the words of others and rather easily take offence at the slightest irritation, using it as a welcome excuse to further ostracize themselves from fellowship. Something they had been waiting and wishing for it to happen.
In their crocked situation, erring erring people expect others to understand their rather unusual, newfound busyness and feeling of self importance to be worshipped by others because of their new social status and financial success. Christ is pushed away from the centre of their lives, and in place of Christ is a glorification and enthronement of self as the relevant entity wielding the real power. Christ becomes subservient to the new ME called self. It’s no wonder that the Scriptures warn of the place of pride serving as the ominous harbinger before destruction and fall of a man.
Food for thought: A proud attitude and a haughty spirit are the gateways to death, destruction and disgrace.
Declaration: Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall. Prov 16:18
