Reading: Matthew 27:57-66, 28:1-15
Scripture: He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee. (Luke 24:6)
Note: In our mundane world where pragmatism is believed in by those who call themselves realists, idolized by many nations and people in the secular world and universally welcomed and worshipped as a no-brainer for success, the decision by the people of Israel to accept the evidence from the majority of the spies would have come as no surprise to anyone.
The testimony of the 10 spies who formed the majority of the espionage team was really a fact based on the natural. The two dissenting witnesses must have equally seen the giants in the land from the angle of the natural. But that was not a problem to them. The inhabitants of the land were the Anakims. That was a fact. The sizes, strength and military acumen of these giants were well-known. Another fact. The ten spies had analyzed the facts of the advantages the giants had relative to that of the Israelites and the conclusion was that in the realm of the natural, Israel was simply no match in battle.
However, whereas the majority was doing relativity between giants and humans, seeing the latter as mere grasshoppers, the two spies in the minority were also doing relativity between the giants and God Almighty, and in their analysis they saw the giants as grasshoppers before Jehovah, totally and completely no match for God who created the heaven and the earth.
The analysis of the minority side was based on the truth of historical evidence that traces its trail from the demonstration of matchless power and unparalleled miracles that wrenched Israel from the clutches of slavery and subjugation in Egypt.
Food for thought: The proof of God’s abilities and capabilities is not based on facts of natural evidence but in the truth of the supernatural power of His Word.
Declaration: It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in. (Isa 40:22)
