Topic: The empty tomb 38

Reading: Matthew 27:57-66, 28:1-15

Scripture: He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee. (Luke 24:6)

Note: The wild allegations of the swoon hypothesis theorists carry so many flaws and loopholes that seem to suggest that the non-evidential value of the hypothesis theory can be aptly described as fraudulent, indefensible, not well thought of, and more fictional measured against the proof of historicity of the Gospel narratives.

The swoon hypothesis, in all fairness to commonsense, logic, science and historical facts, should have been declared still-born right from the onset, measured against the overwhelming evidence of the narratives of the four Gospel Writers. The theorists failed to establish proof that in the history of Roman crucifixion, anyone ever successfully feigned death and managed to outwit the blood thirsty Roman soldiers, who had impregnable mechanisms for certifying death and alternatively enforcing the death of survivors.

Evidence abounds in survivors condemned to suffering death from crucifixion lasting averagely between 2-4 days before dying. Some were known to have survived the suffering for as long as 9 days on the cross. It was uncommon for a crucified healthy adult to die within a space of 6 hours as happened to Jesus. That was why Pilate was surprised to hear that Jesus had died so soon (Mark 15:44). The method of crucifixion was an important determinant in how soon one capitulated to death. The flogging and torturing of Christ led to massive bleeding, loss of blood volume and loss of strength in such a manner that he didn’t even have enough strength left to carry the cross to Golgotha.

Based on the trend of suffering survivors of crucifixion in the past, the Romans had an antidote that made certain that survivors capitulated quickly to death. They broke the bones of survivors in their ankles. Since the nailed feet were anchored on a wood rest, it gave the upper body region the pivot needed to be able to continue breathing. But by breaking the bones at the ankles, it leaves the upper body region without support, hence the sufferers got asphyxiated quickly in a couple of minutes through their inability to breathe oxygen into the lungs. This was exactly what happened to the two hoodlums who died flanking Christ on the cross on both sides. In the case of Christ, he was already certified dead, yet the soldiers further thrusted the spear through his side, to confirm that he was indeed dead leading to massive loss of blood that could never be feigned through swooning or unconsciousness.

Food for thought: No human can survive death without any blood running through their veins. The resuscitation concept by the swoon hypothesis theorists is thus scientifically false.

Declaration: For these things were done, that the scripture should be fulfilled, “A bone of him shall not be broken.” And again another scripture saith, “They shall look on him whom they pierced.” (John 19:36-37)
