Scripture: But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say not of this building. (Heb 9:11)
Note: 1John 1:7, “But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.” The challenges of strained relationships are convoluted and unpredictable. Do not be surprised to see the challenges of strained relationships never going away, transcending one generation to the next.
Gen 27:41, “And Esau hated Jacob because of the blessing wherewith his father blessed him: and Esau said in his heart, The days of mourning for my father are at hand, then I will slay my brother Jacob.” From the day Esau learnt that his father, Isaac, had blessed Jacob with the blessings of the firstborn son, he vowed to kill his brother. This self-proclaimed confession was leaked to their mum, Rebekah, who wasted no time in masterminding the escape of Jacob from the wrath of Esau to Laban, their uncle. The grudge that Esau bore against Jacob was intense, and he retained this animosity, relishing the day he will finally lay hands on him and finish him. This disingenuous plot of Esau to kill his brother continued till the demise of Rebekah.
The relationship between Jacob and Esau, was to witness a miraculous and peaceful resolution in their lifetime, after their reunion from thirty-four years of separation due to Jacob’s sojourning. However, the relationship between the progeny of Jacob and Esau was to witness a revival in the deep-seated enmity that arose when Esau recklessly allowed his birthright blessings to be supplanted by his junior twin-brother, Jacob.
Gen 36:12, “And Timna was concubine to Eliphaz Esau’s son; and she bare to Eliphaz Amalek: these were the sons of Adah Esau’s wife.” Amalek, the grandson of Esau was to become the grand enemy of Israel till today. Amalek metamorphosed into a nation that stood for all that represented evil. She became the perennial enemy of Israel, for which reason God swore to wipe out Amalek from the surface of the earth. (Exodus 17:14-16)
Food for thought: Hatred is an evil trait that reinvents itself into a monstrous problem, when not dealt with in time.
Declaration: And the Lord said unto Moses, Write this for a memorial in a book, and rehearse it in the ears of Joshua: for I will utterly put out the remembrance of Amalek from under heaven. Exodus 17:14
