Topic: The Tabernacle of God 354

Scripture: But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say not of this building. (Heb 9:11)

Note: 2Cor 5:1, “For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.” Death has been a certainty for mankind since the fall of Adam in the garden of Eden. Disobedience of Adam and Eve against God led to the entry of sin. The entry of sin gave death its right of entry into the domain of man (1Cor 15:56).

The entry of death meant that death immediately began to exercise its right of dominion over man. Adam, who exercised total dominion and authority over the earth and every living thing that was on the earth, lost that right when he chose to become a slave of sin instead of a son of God. This pathetic exchange that was exercised based on the premises of deception, was totally due to Adam and Eve’s decision to listen to the old serpent instead of obeying God. Thus, man condescended from a position of absolute dominion and authority over the earth to the ignominy of slave to sin, death and satan.

Death began to wield its treacherous, destructive and vengeful power over man in an outrageously wicked manner. Death became Satan’s most feared arsenal against man. Man’s fall gave Satan an unbridled license, wasting no time to deploy his newly found authority over man, which was exercised with all the indignity that satan could muster through killing, stealing and destroying of man (John 10:10). Man descended from the glory of immortality and incorruption into inglorious mortality and corruption, in servitude to an ungrateful master, satan (1Cor 15:53-56).

Man’s fear of death was used by satan to further enslave and ensnare man. The coming of Jesus Christ in the flesh and His death on the cross, witnessed an open triumph, a public humiliation and a disarming of the principalities and powers of darkness. Through death, Christ destroyed him that had the power of death, the devil. Jesus didn’t only break the power and stranglehold of death over man; He also delivered us from the fear of death and its bondage over man. Therefore when a man enters into a relationship with Jesus Christ, neither death nor the fear of death has any more power over him. He has passed from death to life (Col 2:15, Heb 2:14-15, John 5:24).

Food for thought: Jesus Christ is the only one with the power to break the power of death over your life.

Declaration: Verily, verily, I say to you, he that hears my word, and believes on Him that sent me, has everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death to life. John 5:24
