Topic: The empty tomb 10

Reading: Matthew 27:57-66, 28:1-15

Scripture: He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee. (Luke 24:6)

Note: After the outpouring of the Spirit on the day of Pentecost with the supernatural manifestation of speaking in tongues by the waiting disciples, leading to the great conversion when three thousand souls were won to the Lord, the stage was set for the lighting of the flame of Christianity leading to a rapid spread of the Gospel.

The Jewish crooks and conspirators who thought that they had successfully purchased the news of the empty tomb as they similarly did with Christ’s betrayal and death, were caught off-guard, unprepared for the emerging phenomenon of the preaching of the resurrected Christ in power and glory, and most importantly the acceptance of the truth of the resurrection by the mass of the people.

This was one truth the religious establishment feared, worried about, costing them so much money in servicing the bribery of the soldiers in a vain attempt to suppress the truth of the empty tomb. Christ’s resurrection wasn’t an accident to them. He spoke about it on countless occasions to the hearing of all; both admirers and enemies. His sworn enemies knew that the validation of the truth of the resurrection could strike at the nerve centre of their well orchestrated lies, treachery, hypocrisy, corruption, double standards and deception that had been carefully woven like tapestry over the minds of the simple, the ordinary people and the unsuspecting masses.

Food for thought: The resurrection of Christ means the setting at liberty of the oppressed, the abused and the deceived in society from the claws and fangs of the crooks, the corrupt and wicked oppressors in society.

Declaration: And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved. (Acts 2:21)
