Topic: From the beginning it was not so 56

Scripture: He saith unto them, Moses because of the hardness of your hearts suffered you to put away your wives: but from the beginning it was not so. (Matt 19:8)

Note: In an age when we are experiencing a revolution in the revelation, knowledge and understanding of the doctrine of Grace, is it not an irony that we are experiencing so much hurt, pain, separations and divorces within the body of Christ?

In the mid-seventies when I started growing as a Christian, it was virtually unheard of, in fact a taboo subject to hear whispers of marital conflicts heading towards the law courts for divorce. Wild things like wife or husband abuses, be it physical or verbal, were unheard of. The body of Christ was sanitised, albeit during a dispensation when supposedly, sufficient knowledge and understanding were comparatively lacking. Access to knowledge through the Internet as we have today, seemed like light million years away.

With rapid increase in knowledge due to the revolutionary effects of access to the Internet coupled with globalisation of the world through effective communication technology, is it not paradoxical that separations, divorces, infighting and abuses even within christian circles, have increased and become a normal thing? Where abounds grace with increase in sin? Is it selfishness, lack of understanding, or sinning more so that grace will abound?

Food for thought: Forgiveness has become alien to believers at a time we should be demonstrating our worth as salt and light of this world.

Declaration: Ye are the light of the world, A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid. (Matt. 5:14)
