Topic: The empty tomb 7

Reading: Matthew 27:57-66, 28:1-15

Scripture: He is not here, but is risen: remember how he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee. (Luke 24:6)

Note: Beyond any doubt, Pilate and the chief priests and the Pharisees would have diligently pursued the stolen body agenda if there was any intimation on the location of the body or the faintest of chances that it was really stolen while the watching soldiers who were frighteningly armed to the teeth, were supposedly asleep. There is no record of any such pursuit of the body of Jesus.

Having successfully bought the death of Jesus through betrayal and followed it up with another purchase of the news of his resurrection, the unrepentant chief priests and the Pharisees managed to propagate a palpable lie to the unsuspecting Jewish community for a period, suggesting that the discredited disciples of Jesus came to steal the body while the soldiers slept.

Jesus’ several appearances to his eleven remaining apostles, the women and other disciples, numbering about 500 in all, after his resurrection, began to energise the otherwise frightened and withdrawn followers in their faith and belief in the Son of God.

Just like Samson, whose hair began to grow while his eyes were plugged out completely, blind and left to rot in jail, grinding corn and entertaining the uncircumcised Philistines, the ten-day wait in the upper room by 120 expectant disciples for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost, served as the gestational period for the lighting of the flame of Christianity that put paid to the end of the lies about the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, the manipulations of the mind of the people using stage managed plethora of atrocities, subversions, conspiracies, betrayals and wicked lies to control the minds of the people.

Food for thought: You can do nothing against the truth, but for the truth.

Declaration: Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was not possible that he should be holden of it. (Acts 2:24)
