Topic: Entitlement

Scripture: For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. (Rom 3:23)

Note: Entitlement is the condition of having a right to have, do, or get something. The feeling or belief that you deserve to be given something such as special privileges, a type of financial help provided by the government for members of a particular group.

Within any sovereign nation, an entitlement could be in the form of a government program guaranteeing access to some benefit by members of a specific group and based on established rights or by legislation. The term may also reflect a pejorative connotation, as in a “sense of entitlement”. A “right” is itself an entitlement associated with a moral or social principle, such that an “entitlement” is a provision made in accordance with a legal framework of a society. Typically, entitlements are based on concepts of principle (“rights”) which are themselves based in concepts of social equality or enfranchisement.

Typical groups of special people entitled to specific rights backed by legal framework in our society are the aged and pregnant women with regard to access to health care, the very poor in society who enjoy monetary assistance from government through the LEAP social intervention programme, intended to mitigate poverty, and children in the use of the Metropolitan busing system for commuting.

There is however, a certain unrecognised class of people who feel a sense of entitlement to the national cake. They feel that the society owes them something that has been denied them for which they must use every means fair or foul to reclaim what they perceive to be rightfully theirs: These are armed robbers. When this sense of entitlement is unleashed on civil society, we have a dangerous phenomenon on hand which can best be described as chaotic.

This world system under the control and influence of satanic and demonic forces, uses this type of dangerous chaotic environment to perpetuate lawlessness and bring intimidation, fear and oppression to people.

There is however, one true entitlement that has been provided to all humanity of all shapes and social classes by God: life eternal through the shed blood of Jesus Christ on the cross of Calvary.

Food for thought: Classless entitlement offered by Christ to all humanity, is the greatest good news ever known in the history of mankind.

Declaration: For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. (Rom 6:23)
