Daily Manna – January 26, 2016
Topic: From the beginning it was not so 71

Scripture: Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.” (Luke 23:34)

Note: Modern day movies, especially in the 21st century depicting the passion of Christ, have found several viewers worldwide, getting so traumatised by the graphic display of sheer brutality by the Roman soldiers, their heartlessness, coupled with the copious display of hatred for one man by the religious rulers for Jesus, whose only crime was that he dared to challenge the rotteness of the religious establishment, resulting in his unfortunate setup and crucifixion.

The hideous scourging session preceding his tortuous journey to Golgotha, was so brutally administered that it defeated the earlier intention of Pilate, which was to set Jesus free, resulting in a double jeopardy of suffering for one offence, an injustice in law. The inability of Jesus to bear his own cross was due to the severe infliction of wounds on his body precipitating massive bleeding, loss of energy and weakness.

Jesus Christ was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. (Isa.53:5)

Food for thought: It is unfortunate that today, preachers and Christians have metamorphosed into the same religious rulers of Jesus’ era, adding to his cupful of suffering and double jeopardy with their nonsensical behaviour, treachery and hypocrisy.

Declaration: These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. (John 16:33)
